What Each Line Needs
Break-even is after 5% commission. For −1.0 (marked *) it is the share of non-push results that must be full wins. The final column is this season’s record from small samples: context for the price, not a forecast.
Selection | Pays on | Push on | Break-even | This season |
Aston Villa −0.5 | Any win | — | 53.63% | Villa have won 1 of 4 at home. Fulham have lost 2 of 4 away, neither by two. |
Como −1.0 | Win by 2+ | Win by 1 | 67.36%* | 4 of Como’s 7 non-push results were full wins. Venezia lost by 2+ in 5 of 8 verified results. |
Lazio −1.0 | Win by 2+ | Win by 1 | 62.19%* | Lazio have won 8 of 9. Both verified home wins, 1–0 and 2–1, would have pushed. |
Lyon −1.0 | Win by 2+ | Win by 1 | 66.09%* | 2 of Lyon’s 3 non-push home results were full wins. Angers away: W1 D1 L1. |
Djurgården −1.5 | Win by 2+ | — | 58.07% | Djurgården won by 2+ in 5 of 13 at home. Degerfors lost by 2+ in 7 of 13 away. |
Stakes are the analysts’ allocations on our 1–5% scale. They express relative conviction and are not calibrated to a model probability. Each writeup states the deciding factor and a skip trigger: if the trigger is met when lineups are announced, the position is skipped and recorded as skipped, with no substitute bet. Record sources: [19–25, 28–29].
The Sharp Take
Aston Villa v Fulham
Saturday 31 October · 21:00 CET · Villa Park [7]
Aston Villa −0.5 @ 1.91 | Stake 2% | McGill
Why this line. Nicolas Jackson’s double beat Manchester City 2–1 last Saturday and ended City’s perfect start. It was also Villa’s first home league win in four, after defeats by Arsenal and Forest and a 2–2 with Brentford: one win in four against a price that asks for nearly 54%. McGill’s line rests on the opponent. Fulham are 15th, have four points from four away games and are without the suspended Sessegnon. [8, 10, 21]
The deciding factor. Selection, not form. Wednesday’s 3–0 cup defeat at Bournemouth followed nine changes, and Barcelona visit on Tuesday. [9, 26] Onana, Ruggeri and Wan-Bissaka are out. [10] The side that beat City justifies this price; one picked with Barcelona in mind does not.
Skip if Jackson does not start, or the XI shows five or more changes from the City win.
The Rest of the Card
Como v Venezia
Sunday 1 November · 12:30 CET · Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia [11]
Como −1.0 @ 1.51 | Stake 4% | Hayes
Why this line. The widest gap on the card: fourth against a bottom side with three points from nine, a fortnight into Davide Nicola’s tenure. Venezia lost by two or more in five of eight verified results; Como won by two or more in four of nine, including 2–0 against Sassuolo with Nico Paz rested and 3–1 at Torino. [3, 11–12, 19–20] The counterweight: Como’s 57% full-win rate sits below the 67% hurdle, only one of three home games produced a two-goal win, and Venezia had two goals ruled out against Inter before losing to late own goals. [13]
The deciding factor. Freshness in attack. This is Como’s third league game in eight days, and the Torino win needed three goals in the last ten minutes. Hayes’s 4% depends on that attack starting again.
Skip if Nico Paz is not in the starting XI.
Lazio v Cagliari
Sunday 1 November · 15:00 CET · Stadio Olimpico [14]
Lazio −1.0 @ 1.64 | Stake 3% | Hayes
Why this line. Gattuso’s Lazio are unbeaten after nine, level with Inter on 25 points, and scored six at Sassuolo on Tuesday. Cagliari are mid-table on 13, lost 4–2 at Roma and are without Idrissi, Winks and Felici. [14] The margin evidence is weaker than the table: both verified Lazio home wins, 1–0 against Genoa and 2–1 against Parma, would have refunded this bet. [22–23]
The deciding factor. Whether the Sassuolo performance travels home. Those six goals came away at the side in 15th, and Cagliari are expected to line up with five across midfield in a 3-5-2. Gudmundsson is out, and Marusic and Rovella are to be assessed. [14]
Skip if Two of Isaksen, Noslin and Zaccagni are missing from the starting XI.
Lyon v Angers
Sunday 1 November · 17:15 CET · Lyon [15]
Lyon −1.0 @ 1.54 | Stake 2% | Hayes
Why this line. Lyon have lost their last two, 3–0 at Hoffenheim in the Europa League and 2–0 at PSG, where Fonseca admitted he had no attacking options with Openda and Sulc injured and Nakamura suspended. [16, 27] Home form is the counter-argument: unbeaten in four, including 4–0 against Rennes and 3–1 against Auxerre, though also 1–1 with bottom-placed Le Havre. Angers are 14th; their three away games brought a 3–1 win, a 0–0 and a 5–1 defeat. [24]
The deciding factor. Who leads the line. Merah played as a false nine in Paris and Lyon did not score. Morton, Tolisso and Bidstrup are midfield doubts, and the postponement leaves four days before Real Sociedad away on Thursday. [15, 17]
Skip if Nakamura is not back in the XI and Merah again starts as the false nine.
Djurgården v Degerfors
Sunday 1 November · 14:00 CET · 3Arena [18]
Djurgården −1.5 @ 1.76 | Stake 2% | Nielsen
Why this line. Third hosts 14th with four rounds left. Degerfors lost by two or more in seven of 13 away games, including 4–0 at Häcken last Saturday, and have scored nine away goals all season. [6, 25] Djurgården are weaker at home: six wins in 13, against nine away. Two 6–0 wins supply 12 of their 32 home goals, but five of the six home wins came by two or more, all with clean sheets. [28–29]
The deciding factor. Which Djurgården turns up. Neither record clears the 58% hurdle; Degerfors’ 54% comes closest. Djurgården have drawn their last two, 2–2 at home to Örgryte and 1–1 at Göteborg on Wednesday, and play for the third time in nine days.
Skip if The XI shows more than three changes from Wednesday’s side at Göteborg.

All P/L figures are percentages of the flat reference bankroll. Home score first: Chelsea v Tottenham; Hull v Brentford; Como v Sassuolo; Marseille v Le Havre; Midtjylland v Lyngby; Häcken v Degerfors. Final scores: [1–6]. Stakes and quoted odds follow the Issue 44 picks summary. All six positions are included.
Tracker Method
The two winners earned 3.720% gross and the two losses cost 4.000%, leaving −0.280%. Commission of 5% on winning market profit came to 0.186%, producing −0.466% net, or −€46.60 on €10,000. The pushes returned their combined 5% stake in full. Calculations assume execution at the published odds and one position per market.
YTD adds returns on a flat reference bankroll before commission: 52.040 − 0.280 = 51.760%, or €5,176.00 on €10,000, with 28 green and 15 red weeks from 43. It is a reconciled carry-forward from Issue 44, whose earlier history has not been re-audited bet by bet. Historical commission data is insufficient for a net YTD figure.
Bankroll Tip
Como is the largest stake at the shortest price. On €10,000, the 4% is €400: a full win returns €193.80 net, a one-goal win refunds it, and a draw or defeat loses all €400. Lyon has the same shape at half the size, €102.60 to win against €200 at risk. A short price is not a safer bet; it simply demands a higher strike rate to pay for the losing outcomes. Hayes’s three positions hold 69.2% of the weekend’s stake, and all three need two-goal wins. Narrow home wins would mostly refund; one upset draw at Como would cost more than the Lyon winner returns. Maximum loss on the card is €1,300.
Settlement and Entry Rules
Take the supplied quote or better once lineups are confirmed. If the price has gone, or a skip trigger is met, do not bet; the position is recorded as skipped. Team news outside the triggers is for the analyst to judge before kickoff, and any change of stake will be noted in the next results table.
Net odds = 1 + (quoted odds − 1) × 0.95; break-even rate = 1 ÷ net odds. Rates shown are rounded; calculations use full precision. Commission examples assume 5% on winning market profit; use your actual rate.
