Round 3 • Issue 33 • 7 August 2026
Five Plays, Three Leagues — and the Opening-Day Information Gap
AZ −1.0 four days after the Shield. Malmö against a side that last scored in June. Brugge kick off tonight — that bet goes first. ⚡
📈 Performance Snapshot
Week 32 returned +2.00%. Sirius −1.0 landed as written — 0–2 at Örjans Vall — and Viking covered by three. The loss was Häcken’s 1–1 with Kalmar: the draw risk we named, priced, and paid. Both Danish −1.0s pushed on one-goal wins. YTD +54.89% across 31 weeks — 22 green, 9 red.

How to read the number: every stake is a fixed percentage of a 100-unit starting bankroll. Weekly P/L adds up those stakes’ returns; YTD adds up the weeks. Simple sums, never compounded — +54.89% means 54.89 units gained on the original 100. 31 weeks, 170+ settled positions, each recorded at the published price. Full history at oddsbriefing.com/archive.
📋 The Card
−0.5 needs a win by any margin — no refund on a draw. −1.0 needs a two-goal win and refunds on a one-goal win. −1.5 needs a two-goal win and loses on a one-goal win — no refund anywhere. Below the floor price, the bet is off — the market has taken the edge.
One convention, stated once: prices, floors, results and records are facts. Fair values, and any sentence about why a price exists or where it moves, are analyst inference — published pre-market, archived against the close.

Total bankroll risked: 12% — the floor of our usual 12–18% range, deliberately. More on why in the Bankroll Tip.
🎯 The Sharp Take: AZ Alkmaar vs ADO Den Haag
Eredivisie — Round 1 | Saturday 8 August, 21:00 | AFAS Stadion, Alkmaar | Analyst: Peter Hayes
The setup. Saturday night at the AFAS, the Johan Cruyff Shield four days old, and an away end sold out by a club making its first top-flight trip to Alkmaar since 2021.
• Thirteen unbeaten, and counting. Match thirteen of the unbeaten run was a 4–0 over PSV in the Shield — shaped, yes, by Veerman’s eighth-minute red card. The cleaner fact: two home defeats in seventeen league matches last season.
• ADO will come to play — which suits us. 89 points, 90 goals, promotion sealed by mid-March. An attacking promoted side is what a −1.0 wants: open games produce margins, parked buses produce 1–0s.
• The level gap is real. ADO’s tidy defensive record — 37 conceded — was earned a division below, against attacks nothing like this one.
• The −1.0 is the structure. A one-goal AZ win refunds the stake — the outcome most likely to spoil an otherwise correct read.
The number. Hayes: “Fair value is −1.25. At 1.68 the market implies a 59.5% chance of the two-goal win once the one-goal push is set aside. Our estimate is 63. Those three and a half points are the edge — and they exist because the market is still pricing ADO off Eerste Divisie tape.” The estimate is a pre-market number, published before the line moves and archived against where it closes.
The risk — and what would prove us wrong. AZ conceded 51 last season. The thesis fails observably in two ways: the line drifting through 1.60 (the market rejecting our number — that cancels the bet), or ADO scoring first and turning a margin bet into a chase — the variance we are paid 1.68 to hold.
⏰ Execution. Saturday morning. Our read — inference, not fact: a 4–0 over the champions is the kind of headline that pulls late money onto AZ, and Dutch opening-round liquidity builds through Saturday. If 1.68 shortens, we bought above the close; the archive will show whether the read was right. Floor 1.60.
📊 The Other Four
Each at 2–3% — the edge, the risk that sets the stake, and how to execute.
Club Brugge vs Kortrijk — Brugge −1.5
Belgian Pro League | Friday 7 August, 20:45 | Jan Breydel Stadium | Hayes
Edge. 28 wins in 40 last season, at home to a side promoted as Challenger Pro League runners-up — a two-division-calibre gap that the −1.5 exists to monetise. The number, from Hayes: fair value −1.75. At 1.74 the market implies a 57.5% chance of the two-goal win; our estimate is 61.
Risk — and why 2%, not 3%. The −1.5 has no refund: a one-goal win loses the lot. Brugge arrive on four straight defeats — three friendlies and the Super Cup shoot-out. The results are fact; reading them as summer noise from an intact squad is our inference. That unresolved form question, plus the unforgiving cover, caps the stake.
Execution. Kick-off is tonight, 20:45 — the only play with no waiting room. Floor 1.66; below it, the two-goal probability the price implies has crossed our estimate and the edge is gone.
PSV vs Fortuna Sittard — PSV −1.5
Eredivisie | Saturday 8 August, 20:00 | Philips Stadion | Hayes
Edge. The stat that matters for a −1.5 is margin, not wins: eleven of the last sixteen meetings went to PSV by two goals or more, and Fortuna conceded 63 last season with four away wins in seventeen. The number, from Hayes: fair value −1.75. At 1.71 the market implies 58.5% for the two-goal cover; our estimate is 62.
Risk. The 0–4 in the Shield is the elephant. Fact: it came with ten men from the eighth minute. Inference: that is why a line that priced in the 1.50s throughout last season is available at 1.71 — and if the inference is wrong and something is genuinely broken at PSV, this loses. Same unforgiving cover as Brugge, same 2%.
Execution. Saturday morning — team news lands around midday and a full-strength XI will move this line. Floor 1.63.
Malmö FF vs Degerfors IF — Malmö −1.0
Allsvenskan | Sunday 9 August, 14:00 | Eleda Stadion | Nielsen
Edge. Degerfors last scored in June — five straight league blanks and twelve goals in fifteen matches, the weakest attack in the division’s bottom half. A side that cannot score cannot punish a handicap. Malmö have won three of their last four, including 4–0 over Göteborg. The number, from Nielsen: fair value −1.25. At 1.70 the market implies 58.8% for the two-goal win; our estimate is 62.
Risk. Malmö’s own season has been ragged — six defeats, seventh place — and July’s meeting shows the exact failure mode: dominate at Stora Valla, win 1–0. That scoreline refunds this line rather than losing it, which is why it’s the −1.0 and not the −1.5, and why the stake can be 3% despite Malmö’s table position.
Execution. Saturday evening. Swedish lines are thin, and our read is that what movement comes will come before Sunday’s early kick-off — take 1.70 while it exists. Floor 1.62.
Anderlecht vs RAAL La Louvière — Anderlecht −0.5
Belgian Pro League | Sunday 9 August, 18:30 | Lotto Park | Nielsen
Edge. Round 1 at Lotto Park against a side that spent last season scrapping clear of the drop, and the half-ball only needs a win by any margin — the least demanding line on this card. The number, from Nielsen: fair value −0.75. At 1.75 the market implies 57.1% for the home win; our estimate is 60.
Risk. The draw. Anderlecht haven’t lost to RAAL since they came up — but they haven’t always beaten them either, and a −0.5 has no refund: a 1–1 takes the full stake, the exact bill we paid on Häcken seven days ago. I’ll be honest — this is the pick I’ll watch through my fingers, and it’s sized at 2% for precisely that reason.
Execution. Sunday 18:30. Big-name favourites shorten as weekend money arrives — Sunday morning at the latest. Floor 1.67.
📍 Where to Bet
Betfair Exchange for all five — the tightest Asian-handicap margins in our experience; opening-round liquidity builds late, so take the number rather than wait for it. Pinnacle as backstop. Bet365 posted the Belgian openers earliest.

⚠️ Trap Game Alert: Hammarby vs Häcken
Allsvenskan | Sunday 9 August | no official play
The trap. “Hammarby at home — the side that hung eight on Örgryte and four on Degerfors, against a team that draws half its games. Take the hosts on the handicap.”
The reality. Häcken have lost twice in fifteen — only the unbeaten leaders have lost fewer — with seven draws, a 0–0 at AIK, and last week’s 1–1 with Kalmar that we funded personally. Sides like that don’t get blown away; they get shaded.
The number. Second against third, 27 points to 25. Any Hammarby handicap dies on a draw against the division’s premier draw machine, and the 1X2 is priced accordingly tight.
Our stance. Stay away. A top-of-table clash between the league’s two hardest sides to beat is a coin flip with good PR.
💡 Bankroll Tip: The Information Gap
Three of this week’s five plays are matchday one, and opening lines are built from two inputs that both mislead: last season’s table and pre-season noise. Our working hypothesis — and it is a hypothesis — is that the market is over-weighting the noise: a Shield defeat with ten men, Eerste Divisie tape, a lost friendly. If we’re right, these prices are cheap. If we’re wrong, thin information punishes us where we can least see it coming. That asymmetry is why total risk is 12% and every position carries a floor. The principle travels: when the information base is thin, you don’t skip the edge — you shrink the stake until the information catches up.
🏆 League Intel
Forward leans only — no filler.
Belgian Pro League. Brugge’s Round 2 trip to OH Leuven is next week’s likely play — early lean Brugge on a modest line, sized by what tonight tells us about the pre-season form question.
Eredivisie. If Saturday goes to script, AZ prices shorten across the board within a round or two — the value window on them is now, not in September.
Allsvenskan. Sirius, fifteen unbeaten after Monday’s 2–0, are approaching the point where no handicap pays — expect us on their opponents’ totals, not their lines, from here.
Danish Superliga. Lyngby vs FCM, teased last issue, didn’t make the card: the price never reached our threshold, and passing is the system working. FCM’s next home fixture is the re-entry point.
📨 Before You Go
Tonight: Brugge at 1.74 or better — kick-off is 20:45, and this one cannot wait for the weekend.
Then, in order: PSV and AZ Saturday morning, Malmö by Saturday evening, Anderlecht Sunday morning. Every position is off below its floor.
Back Tuesday with all five settlements, each graded against its floor and its close — the archive is where our inferences go to be checked. (Spotted an edge we missed? Reply.)
